Munster Championships in Cork next Weekend
On Sunday next the second section of the Munster Cross Country Championships will take place in Carrignavar Co. Cork.  West Waterford A.C. have entered girls and boys teams in all age groups under 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 & 19. A bus will leave Centra  Abbeyside at 9.30 a.m. sharp. At the last session West Waterford’s young athletes did well and brought home twenty-nine medals.  This time out a lot of our younger athletes will be running in their own age group and should have a good chance of making it into the medals.

Countdown to Paris
The clock is ticking down on the last few training sessions before we head to Paris on Friday 16th of November.  Sixteen athletes eight boys and eight girls will make the trip accompanied by five adults.  The athletes have been training hard under the guidance of Tony Shalloe and this was apparent at the first round of the Munster Championships when all qualified for the all Ireland Championships.  Those travelling include Kate Veale, Kate Kennedy, Edel Roche, Elma Nugent, Rebecca Maher, Jenny Hurley, Claire Collins, Clodagh Gallagher, Rory Moloney, Joe Conway, David Early, Lughaidh O’Mahoney, Mark Shalloe, Daniel Mc Carthy, Des Sheehan, Brian Hallissey, Tony Shalloe, John Mc Grath. Helen Nugent, Pat Early and Mary Ashe.

All Ireland in Newbridge
On Sunday 25th of November twenty five of West Waterford best athletes will travel to compete in the All Ireland Championships under 12, 14, 16, &18. They will compete with province, county and club in the most important event in the cross county calendar. The following have qualified to compete

Munster Teams:
Kate Veale under 14 girls
David Early under 14 boys
Daniel Mc Carthy under 16 boys
Elma Nugent under 18 girls
Jenny Hurley under 18 girls
Mark Shalloe under 18 boys

County Teams; 
Waterford qualified four teams for the inter county contest and West Waterford is well represented in all these team.

Those qualified are:
Under 12 Boys: Sean Curran, Tholm Reddy, Richard Casey & Shane Nugent
Under 16 Boys: Daniel Mc Carthy, Joe Conway, Tom Curran, Jim Curran, Brian Hallissey,
Under 18 Girls: Elma Nugent, Jenny Hurley,
Under 18 Boys: Mark Shalloe

Club Teams:
Under 16 Girls: Edel Roche, Rebecca Maher, Claire Collins, Clodagh Gallagher, Kate Kennedy, Colleen Whelan & Lisa Houlihan.
Under 16 Boys:  Daniel Mc Carthy, Joe Conway, Tom Curran, Jim Curran, Brian Hallissey, Lughaidh O’Mahony, Darragh O’Riordan
Under 18 Girls: Elma Nugent, Jenny Hurley, Shona Curran, and Stacey Lyons.
