29TH ANNUAL FORDE’S DAYBREAK WINTER LEAGUE.

 

 

 

 

With the summer road racing scene now behind us and our very successful half marathon completed  with the evening light drawing in our thoughts start turning towards the club’s annual winter league event and this coming winter league see’s it entering its 29th year. The club committee have been working away behind the scenes in organising this year’s event and are delighted to say that Forde’s Daybreak on the Youghal Road have committed once again to sponsoring this great event for the coming league.  Registration night this year will be on Wednesday November 8th.The following week the league will begin officially on November 15th. We will provide more information in the coming weeks but for now all you need do is pencil the date into your diary.

 

 

 

PLANS WELL IN PLACE FOR CLUBS 29TH ANNUAL FORDE’S DAYBREAK WINTER LEAGUE .

 

 

 

 The clubs winter league which now enters its 29th year will begin in November.  This year the registration night will take place on the Wednesday November 8th where you can register for this year’s league and we can answer any questions you may have and we will also explain the rules and regulations of the league as well as the two courses of the league .The first official night of the league will be the following week November 15th. For all those that won’t be able to make it to the sports centre on the first night of registration, you may register and get your number on the following night. In fact, it’s possible to join the winter league at any stage throughout the course of the league. Winter league payment is  a once off payment,with club members paying 35 euro (this includes the 5 euro once off number payment) and for non-members you can pay a once off payment of 40 euro which also includes the 5 euro number payment charge. This amount will cover you for the full duration of the league.

It’s that time of the year again when we must remind all those out running on the road to wear a reflective bib, also most important is to wear bright coloured clothing, remember you can see that car but can the driver of that car see you it’s a simple motto, be safe be seen.

GRÁINNE MOORE WINS LADIES.

The Carrick On Suir AC promoted rearranged final race in their Outfield Sports sponsored summer race series the Piltown 5 mile was held last Sunday morning and 60 competed.The race sponsor here was Noel O’Neill Electrical and the race winner was Pat Fitzgerald Waterford AC in 26.17, Craig O’Brien Ferrybank was second in 26.36 and Dermot Gorman Carrick on Suir AC was third in 26.51. It was great to see one of our young upcoming Female members who has been knocking on the door for a victory this past year finally getting her reward with a superb win Gráinne Moore  in time of 34.34 was first past the post with Gráinne Brennan Carrick on Suir AC taking was in the same time and it was great to see another club athlete back on the winner’s podium after an injury layoff these past few months when Kelly Fitzgerald was third in 34.59. At time of posting the full results are unavailable to us but we believe West Waterford AC Ladies also took the team prize here.

 

3 WEST WATERFORD AC MEMBERS TACKEL THE AUSTRIAN ALPS.

 

A HUGE WELL DONE TO 3 club members who ran the Jungfrau-Marathon in the Austrian alps last Sunday. The Jungfrau Marathon covers the 26.2 mile distance climbing to the Eiger Glacier at a stunning altitude of 1,953 m on a mix of gravel Road and mountain trails. Not for the faint hearted this event is as hard as they come so a very special well done to all 3 of our members who took on the task and all getting through with flying colours. Paul Kennedy 5hr 17 minutes, Ann Moore 6hr 00 and David Moore same time as Ann 6hr 00.
