123.IE NATIONAL 20K TITLE FOR KATE VEALE IN SLOVAKIA.

The 42nd edition of the Dudince gold level world athletics race walking tour meeting was held in Slovakia last Saturday and the event also doubled up as the Irish national 123.ie sponsored 20k Irish national championships for 2023. Kate Veale after an excellent indoor season arguably her best to date as a senior athlete was in Slovakia for the event with her eye set on the 1.39 standard for the upcoming European race walk championships, After a very good opening 10k Kate fell off her target pace over the next few kms and crossed the line in 1.40,Kate did record her 21st senior race walking title which was some consolation and a somewhat disappointing day for the Ballinroad woman, Kate will now race again in Warsaw Poland over the 20k distance in a couple of weeks to try and rectify Saturday’s performance and achieve that European time standard.
