Win for Jarlath Hurney at Ferrybank Sports
A small group of athletes travelled to Waterford on Sunday for Ferrybank AC Open Sports. This event always attracts a large number of athletes from all over Munster and Leinster as it is one of the few open sports competitions in the lead up to the championship events. There were big field in all the events and a number of our athletes finished just outside the top three. Jarlath Hurney was in great form as he took the gold in the boys under 12 80m sprint race. Well done to all our athletes who competed on the day.
Win for Mario, 2nd for Andy in the Anne Valley
On Saturday the Anne Valley Challenge was held in Dunhill with a race over 5miles for adults and a1.2k race for juveniles. Mario Zakis led the way home for a fine win in the 1.2k race with younger brother Andy taking 2nd place. Dad Ravis also got on the podium with a 3rd place in the men’s race and Grainne Moore finished 4th in the Women’s race.
Lismore Event for under 9.10.11 Athletes on Sunday April 21st.
We would encourage all our younger athlketes to head to Lismore on Sunday next for the Astro Athletics hosted by Blackwater AC. Athletes from West Waterford, KCK, Finisk Valley and Ardmore will all compete against each other in this fun event starting at 12 noon. Entry 2euro per athlete.
