Bronze for Sophie Beresford at National Indoor Championships
The 123.ie National Indoor Championships were held in Athlone last weekend and West Waterford had three athletes in action. First up was Sophie Beresford in the girls under 15. In a very competitive field of twelve athletes Sophie put in a great performance over the 1000m distance to finish 3rd in a new personal best of 5.03.70 which was three seconds faster than her winning time in Munster. Eabha Hickey finished 5th in the under 18 girls 1500m walk and Doireann Hickey was 6th in the under 19 girls walk.
Silver for Michalina and Bronze for Andy at St. Senan’s Open Sports
On Easter Monday St Senan’s held their annual open sports. A small number of West Waterford athletes travelled to compete in this event. In the girls under 17 shot Michalina Goclik finished second. She threw over 8m for the first time and finished the competition with a new pb of 8m44. In the under 10 boys Andy Zakis was 3rd in the 80m sprint and 4th in the 300. Mario Zakis finished 4th in the boys under 13 700m and Conor Queally taking part in his first competition finished just outside the medals in the under 9 sprint.

Astro Athletics for under 8 to under 11 in Lismore on Sunday 21st April
A non competitive Inter Club friendly gathering will be held in Lismore on Sunday April 21st.
