PAULA’S MEMORIAL RUN/WALK ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 1ST AT 10 AM.

On Saturday October 1st at 10 am the club will hold a memorial run/walk in memory of one of our club members Paula Nugent who passed to her eternal reward some months ago. Paula is fondly remembered by all in our club who miss her greatly but of course her loss is most felt by her loving family, her husband Joe daughters Lily and Alex her parents John and Tess and sisters Sharon, Gillian and Denise and all of the extended Nugent and Collins family and her many friends. The club are holding a run/walk in memory of Paula and we would like to invite all who would wish to be part of the unavailing of a bench in Paula’s memory which will be situated at the top of the Greenway walk near the Railway cottage Café. Paula loved nothing more than her weekly run with her club friends in West Waterford AC along the Greenway and she was a regular on the clubs Tuesday evening training sessions here also. There is no fee involved for the run/walk just come along and be part of a special morning of remembrance of a very special lady who is gone from our mist but not our thoughts, we would love to see everyone who knew Paula from any club or organisation that she was involved in to come along also all are very welcome.

MICHAEL COAKLEY COMPLETES BMW BERLIN MARATHON.

Very well done this morning to club member Michael Coakley who completed the famed Berlin marathon with a finishing time of 5.32.56,Michael is a member of our lets run group and is always very helpful and encouraging to all who come along to give running a try. It was a great day to be in Berlin as it was the day the world record for the marathon was smashed by Eliud Kipchoge Kenya 2.01.09 taking 30 seconds off the old mark which he set in 2018 and into the bargain in the ladies race Tigist Assefa Ethiopia smashed the ladies race record by over 3 minutes when running the 3rd fastest time in ladies marathon history 2.15.37. So what a day to be one of the 45.000 thousand runners from 157 nations who ran the streets of Berlin on such a momentous occasion.
