Race 2 of the clubs summer programme of road races will be the 25th Annual Round Tower Ardmore 5 mile on this coming Friday May 26th at 7.30 pm. The race again this year will be sponsored by the Round Tower Hotel Ardmore and our thanks to its owner Aidan Quirke and his team for their kind sponsorship of this race which is now in its 26th year. Word from the village is that Michael Hennessey and his team in Ardmore have all pre-race work in place, so all we are all have to do now is turn up in big numbers to this beautiful part of our county once again to meet many of our old friends and hopefully many new ones as well. The course will remain the same as previous years with the 2 lap circuit. Registration and changing will be at the Ardmore GAA club pavilion ( by kind permission ) and we sincerely thank Ardmore GAA for the use of their fine facility as they have done now for many years. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female athletes and after that prizes will be awarded to the following age race categories.Men-Junior,40,50,60 Women-Junior,35,40,50.Entry to this race is only 10 Euro if you enter online.






Online entry for the 26th Annual Round Tower Hotel Ardmore 5 is now open on Eventmaster and the Cost is only €10.00. Numbers can be collected on the evening of race. It is of great help to us the race organisers if you can please enter online and it will save you time queuing on the night. If you wait until the race night to enter it will cost 15 euro.

The annual Fota Cheetah run took place last Thursday evening and a field of 722 athletes took part , winner on the night was Ray Hynes Donore Harriers AC in a time of 15.25 with Hannah Steeds Leevale ASC taking the Ladies win in 17.35,Kierna Russell was first West Waterford AC finisher in a time of 19.47 and Lisa Collins was our first lady home in 24.11,well done to all.

148 athletes completed the 8k Poulmucka road race in Co Tipperary tonight Friday,with raceent winner of the Ballinroad 5k Clonmel’s Evan Fitzgerald once again tasking victory in a time of 25.18. The Ladies winner on the night was Dymphna Ryan Dundrum AC who posted a time of 27:59.West Waterford AC had two athletes who made the trip to Tipp, Mick Concannon ran a time of 35.13 to take the over 60 prize and Onra Power was the other with  a time of  42.27.




West Waterford athletic club extend sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Tom Kealy Aughamuckey, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny  who passed to his eternal reward last week, may he rest in peace.
