29th ANNUAL ROUND TOWER HOTEL ARDMORE 5 ON THIS FRIDAY EVENING.
We had the best possible start to our summer race programme at the Ballinroad 5k last Friday week and now we turn our attentions to race number 2 when we make the trip to our great friends In the home of St Declan, Ardmore where we run our 5 mile road race for the 29th year.Yes it’s the 29th Annual Round Tower Ardmore 5 mile road race and once again this year we are delighted that Aidan Quirke of Round Tower Hotel has agreed to sponsor the event as he has done now for the past number of years.The Round Tower Hotel which is located in the beautiful village of Ardmore. Round Tower Hotel is a Fáilte Ireland approved 3 star hotel. The hotel offers guests and visitors the opportunity to enjoy their break in one of Ireland’s oldest Christian settlement villages. The race will be held on this coming Friday May 22ndat 7.30 pm. The people of Ardmore are always great supporters of this event and its one of those races where everything is so very well organised for the holding of the race, as the Ardmore locals take great pride in the event.Our local coordinator of the race is Richie Stilwell and all his team in Ardmore will have all pre-race work in place making the trip to the beautiful part of our county once again to meet many of our old friends a pleasure.The course will remain the same as previous years with the 2 lap circuit. Registration and changing will be at the Ardmore GAA club pavilion ( by kind permission ) and we sincerely thank Ardmore GAA for the use of their fine facility as they have done now for many years. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female athletes and after that prizes will be awarded to the following age race categories.Men-Junior,40,50,60 Women-Junior,35,40,50.Entry to this race is only 12 Euro if you enter online, at Eventmaster.ie and our course if you leave it until the night of the race to enter the fee will be 15 Euro,so get your online entries in ASAP.See ye at the round tower guys.!!

Online entry for the 28th Annual Round Tower Hotel sponsored Ardmore 5 is now open on Eventmaster.ie and the Cost is only €12.00. Numbers can be collected on the evening of race. It is of great help to us the race organisers if you can please enter online and it will save you time queuing on the night. If you come to entry on the night it will cost you 15 euro, so get your online entry in today.

We are delighted to have our summer race programme up and running last Friday week with a highly successful Ballinroad 5km which was race number one in the clubs 6 race events over the summer months ,now if you haven’t entered the event yet you can still do so by logging on to the link below where you can still enter the remaining 5 of the races for a reduced 60 euro which also includes the gilet. CHEETAH 5K.
The annual Cheetah 5k in Fota Wildlife Park was held on Thurs evening last on what was a cool but dry evening, perfect for a road race.There were 725 finishers in this event which sold out in under three hours at the start of April.Overall race winner was Mark Walsh Leevale A.C. in a time of 15:35 with the Ladies title going to Orla Drumm IND in 17:43. The club had 5 athlete who participated this year with Tommie Murphy leading them home in 23.57 and Martina Beechinor was our first Lady home in 25.29, well done to all.

POULMUCKA 5K AND 10K.
The annual Poulmucka 5k AND 10K road race’s in Co Tipperary were held last Friday evening and the weather was ideal for this year event. Overall winner for 2026 in the 5k race was was Patrick Harris Carrick On Suir AC in a time of 17.20 and the Ladies winner was Ally Cummins Upper church in 22:07. West Waterford AC had 2 athletes running here Orna Power completed the race in a time of 17.20 and Michael Dunford was clocked at 37.16.The 10k race with a field of 177 finishers saw victory going to another Carrick On Suir AC athlete Dermot Gorman in a time of 26.44 with Kealay Tideswell Clonmel AC in 28.48 finishing 5th overall taking the Ladies crown .In the 10k race West Waterford AC was represented by David Dixon 32.53 with next home Joe Kelly in a time of 34.17 and Gillian Prendergast finished in .44.43,well done to everyone.
