NEXT LEAGUE IS THE POPULAR MARK MASON FINANCIAL SERVICES COLLIGAN LEAGUE.

The club’s next big local event is the 5 week Mark Mason’s Financial Services Colligan running league for beginners and regular runners and all are welcome once they are over 16 years of age. We would especially encourage newcomers to come along and join in this league in Colligan wood. For the complete beginner there is the option of doing two laps of the wood, beginning at the wooden bridge and finishing at the wooden bridge. This is 4km in distance or 2.5 miles so it might suit all those that ran the short route over the winter league plus this route is more or less completely on the flat. Another option is to take part in the 5-mile circuit; this is 3 and a half laps of the same flat circuit of the wood mentioned above. The final option is the 5 mile hill route which is one lap of the wood for starters and then up the first hill and down the hill and then across the road for the second hill and finishing in by the wood at the bridge. The entry fee for all runners is €2 each night. The overall winner of the league will receive the Veale family perpetual shield. The league will start on Wednesday March 29th and continue for five Wednesday evenings April 5th,12th,19th and 26th .Mass start each evening at 6.30 pm.

FORMAT OF THE LEAGUE.

Over the course of the 5 weeks of the league we will keep a record of each person’s finishing position. If you finish first you get one point, fifth place will earn you 5 points and so on. All runners will be put in to divisions of 5 and after the four weeks the winner of each division will receive a prize. Prizes will be awarded to those in each route and the divisions make it fun and interesting and all the more enjoyable. The overall winner of the hill league will also receive the Veale Family Perpetual Shield.

HOW TO TRAIN AS A MIDLIFE WOMAN WORKSHOP.

Saturday 1st April 9.00 am – 2.00 pm, Dungarvan, Co Waterford

Menopause presents additional challenges to our health and our fitness. We are all trying to continue to train and the big question that keeps coming up is ‘why does exercise feel so hard’. There is no one answer to this as menopause is a jigsaw of balancing training, nutrition, recovery, and menopause symptoms. They all matter, and they all impact one another.

We will join the dots between hormonal health, specific exercise, specific nutrition, and recovery and show you how to tweak your training to get the best out of yourself. It doesn’t have to be a struggle every day and you can still train and have energy for the rest of the day. This is not just about performance it’s about being ‘Future Fit’ for long term health. What we do now will impact how we live our lives as we age. If we want to be the 85 year oldliving a full life and active independently then now is the time to make changes. All workshops are open to all but will be particularly useful for women in midlife as well as those coaching midlife runners.Places are limited and a waiting list will be in place when capacity is reached.Fee is 50 euro and will be presented by Irene Clark.
