29th ANNUAL DOOCEYS BAR BALLYMACARBRY 5 ON FRIDAY 26th JUNE.

 

The 29th annual Doocey’s Bar sponsored Ballymacarbry 5 mile road race which is race 4 of the summer programme will be held on this coming  Friday June 26th at 7.30 PM .This race attracts a great crowd and this year again it will be an out and back course along the Nire Road. The entries are online and numbers can be collected at Dooceys Bar near the start line. The entry fee is 12 euro online at event master. Entry on the night will be 15 euro. Prizes in the usual categories.

8th ANNUAL WATERFORD GREENWAY HALF MARATHON SET FOR AUGUST 29th

 

 

 

On 29th August  2026 at 9 am West Waterford Athletic Club will host our 8th annual Waterford Greenway Half Marathon.  The race course is along the Waterford Greenway covering a distance of 13.1 miles along the now famous old Waterford/Dungarvan Railway line. This fantastic amenity opened officially in 2017 and has already experienced visitors from all over the country and beyond. Users are amazed by this 46 km spectacular off-road cycling and walking trail along an old railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan. CONNA 5K.

 

The St Catherine’s AC organised Conna 5k was held Friday evening with the proceeds going to the Waterford and Cork Jockey injury fund. A field of 102 compete on the night with the William Verling  Castlelyons taking the win in a time of 16.49 and Hannah Smith Leevale Ac won the Ladies race in 18.36. Maurice Keogh lead our club members home finishing a creditable 6th in a time of 18.34 and not too far behind was his dada Mossie in 18.52 next was Jack Nolan in 21.04 for 19th place and rounding off the Keogh family participation at the event Kate ran a time of 23.41.Patricja Daly was well under the 30 minute barrier when running a time of 28.30 and Michael Coakley was next in 31.35. Well done to all who  sup[ported the race in Conna.

 

LIAM BERESFORD RUNNERUP ON THE HALF OF THE HEAD.

 

There was a field of 350 competed last Sunday in the Half of the Head half marathon held around the Kerry head loop. Club member Liam Beresford finished runnerup with a time of 1.19.07 with the victory going to Derek Giffin in 1.16.00 first lady was Selenia Nolan 1.27.18.The 13.1 mile half marathon course  took the runners along one of the most unspoilt portions of the Wild Atlantic Way from Ballyheigue Village right around the Kerryhead loop before ending up back at the start point.Well done to Liam on his great run .
