BALLINAMEELA 5K ROAD RACE ON FRIDAY JULY 22ND.

 

The final race in our club summer programme of road races will be the Ballinameela 5k road race and Fun Run which will be held on this Friday July 22nd at 7.30 pm. registration online with number collection at Community hall from 6.15 pm. entry fee only 10 euro. This course is as flat as you could imagine and one which will throw up many 5k PB’s. Showers and Changing Facilities and of course the important refreshments will be available at the centre afterwards.

 

PAT HENNESSEY WINS TRACTON 4.

 

Pat Hennessey had a brilliant run last Friday evening at the Tracton 4 miler in Cork leading a field of 182 home on a very warm evening over a very hilly course, Pat ran a time of 20.30 with Vivian Foley Eagle AC second in 21.04.Aoife Cooke Eagle AC took the ladies win in 22.23 finishing 7th overall in the race.Also running on the night for the club was John Fennell, John ran a time of 36.17.

 

KATE 3rd IN CLERIHAN 8k.

 

Elsewhere in Clerihan  Co.Tipperary at the Annual 8 k race Kate Veale was 3rd lady with a time of 31.57 finishing 10th overall with Dymphna Ryan Dundrum AC 6th winning in 29.54 and Angela Mc Cann Clonmel AC 2nd in 31.29 finishing 8th overall,Ghe overall race winner was Paddy Cummins Moycarkey Coolcoo AC ,Club member Michael Coakley was also in action here and  Michael ran a time of 47.33,a field of 63 competed on the night.Well done to all our members on the roads  last Friday evening.

 

LUCY HOLMES WINS UNDER 23 IRISH LIFE HEALTH ALL IRELAND 800 METERS TITLE.

Very well done to Lucy Holmes who won the 800 meters in the under 23 All Ireland Track and Field championship held last Sunday in Tullamore.Lucy ran a time of 2.14.91 a gold medal winning time with silver going to Shona O Brien 2.15.31 Cork Track Club and bronze to Sarah Clark 2.18.35 Na Fianna AC.

 

JOE WINS ON THE HILLS AGAIN.

Well done to Joe Gough who was first in the M 65 category in a trail race on Carrountoohil in Co.Kerry last Sunday morning which was held in glorious sunshine.

 

 

EUROFINS WATERFORD GREEENWAY HALF MARATHON ENTRIES NOW OPEN.

 

EVENT SUPPORTS IRISH COMMUNITY AIR AMBULANCE.

 

Once again we are delighted to have local company Eurofins as our title sponsor for this unique event and we thank them for their commitment to this race and to our club. In conjunction with Waterford City and County Council this is a  13.1 mile race along the now famous old Waterford/Dungarvan Railway line. This fantastic amenity opened officially in 2017 and has already experienced visitors from all over the country and beyond. Users are amazed by this 46 km spectacular off-road cycling and walking trail along an old railway line between Waterford and Dungarvan.Please note this is a point to point race starting at the Coachhouse Kilmacthomas and finishing near Ballinroad, Dungarvan. Entry fee includes bus from Ballinroad to the start line in Kilmacthomas. As usual each year we try to support a local charity and this year we have chosen Irish Community Air Ambulance.We all know the valuable work this organisation do in our community and hopefully we can raise some much needed  funds as they are a voluntary organisation who  rely on the public for support.

If you wish to apply as an elite runner for the Eurofins Waterford Greenway half marathon please send your information to info@westwaterfordathletics.org stating your name, date of birth, club and fastest time and location for either half marathon or 10 mile race ran in the last 3 years. Half Marathon time: Under 1.20 for men (1.30 for women) 10 Mile Time: Under 60 mins for men (65 for women)
