 PAT HENNESSEY CRUISES TO VICTORY.

The Deíse College sponsored 38th Annual Dungarvan 10k this year saw a field of 113 on a beautiful summers evening for running. The race was got under way at 7.30 from the industrial estate and from the gun, our eventual winner Pat Hennessey distanced himself from the field going through mile one in 5.10, even at this stage with over 5 miles to go the race was more or less over as Pat had a commanding lead on the chasing group which was headed up by his club mate Raivis Zakis who passed that mile marker at a more sedated pace of 5.30. Passing the 4 mile mark in 21.20 our leader Pat was home and hosed as they say crossing the finish line in 32.46. However a great battle was going on between the chasing group for the runners up spot with Raivis Zakis took the honours here finishing 2nd place in 34.06 with Keith Kelly Ind taking 3rd in 34.55.Turning to the  masters where the 0/40 category victory went to Ed Kelly younger brother to Joe and Chris and showed both a clean pair of heels I might add in a time of 40.40, taking the over 45 category was Alan O’Connor United Striders AC in 37.25, the  0/50 winner was John Murphy Grange Fermoy AC  37.47 and the over 60 prizes was claimed by Joe Gough West Waterford A.C. 40.43, All excellent category winning times recorded there, First junior home was Adam O’Connor United Striders AC 41.35 , West Waterford AC won the team prize with a score of 35 Points.
