WATERFORD GREENWAY HALF MARATHON SET FOR AUGUST 29th.
The Waterford Greenway Half Marathon follows one of the flattest half marathon routes in the country, with a net elevation drop of approximately 100 metres, making it an ideal course for both first-time half marathon runners and those chasing a personal best. Starting beside the historic Workhouse, built in 1850, in the picturesque village of Kilmacthomas, the route quickly joins the Waterford Greenway and crosses the impressive Kilmacthomas Viaduct. Along the way, runners aretreated to breath-taking views of the Comeragh Mountains to the north before crossing the magnificent Durrow Viaduct and passing the beautifully preserved Durrow Railway Station, where the original platform and station building still stand. One of the highlights of the course is the spectacular 400-metre-long Ballyvoile Tunnel, an unforgettable section full of atmosphere—keep an eye out for the fairy doors hidden along the tunnel walls! Emerging from the tunnel, runners cross the restored Ballyvoile Viaduct, originally destroyed in 1922 before being carefully rebuilt to its former glory.As the course winds around the headland, the sea comes into view, revealing stunning panoramic vistas of Clonea Strand and Dungarvan Bay. From there, it’s a gentle downhill run to the finish line beside the Railway Cottage, where a warm welcome and a memorable finish await.

Half Marathon time: Under 1.20 for men (1.30 for women) 10 Mile Time: Under 60 mins for men (65 for women)

MICHAEL COAKLEY COMPLETES ALL 30 PARK RUNS IN MUNSTER.
Recently, club member Michael Coakley took part in the 5k parkrun in Borrisokane in Co Tipperary and this means that he has now completed all 30 of the 5k park runs in Munster Obviously some of these like the ones in Clare, Kerry and west Cork involved quite an amount of traveling considering the distances from Waterford.This is a great achievement for Micheal

ST.CATHERINES AC 5K.
100 competed in last Thursday evenings Ballynoe 5k race. Dermot Ryan Leevale AC was the winner in a time of 16.54 with Hannah Steeds Leevale AC taking the Ladies win finishing 4th overall in a time of 17.10.Maurice Keogh was the first of the West Waterford AC athletes to finish and he recorded a time of 18.48 for 11th place overall. His father Mossie was just 3 places behind him with a time of 19.09 for 14th place and he was 1st over 50.Ray Hahesy running a time of 21.04 was next and he was 1st over 60. Rachel Keogh was next with a time of 22.14 and Martina Beechinor in a time of 25.37,well done to all who travelled to support this race.
ONE-TWO FOR WEST WATERFORD AC AT CLOGHEEN 5K.
The annual Clogheen 5k in Co. Tipperary was held last Thursday evening and a field of 187 participated. It was a great evening for the club as we had the top 2 finishers with Pat Hennessey back to good form again taking the victory in a time of 16.25 and he was followed home by club mate Raivis Zakis in 2nd place clocking a time of 16.53.The overall Ladies winner was Amanda Moroney Clonmel AC 19.29.Siun Cunningham took the Junior Ladies win in 20.32 and Onra power took the first prize in the over 60 category in 27.40. Andrea Gaffney was 2nd in the over 55 category with a time of 26.35 while Paschal Proctor was runner-up in the over 70 category in 30.16. Others to perform well on the night included Kenny Kelleher who is improving his times with each outing he finished 16th overall in 18.59, James Meagher ran a time of 24.48 and John Morrison clocked a good time of 26.11.Gillian Prendergast was also in action and she completed the run in 28.18.Well done to all who made the trip to Tipp.
KINSALE 5 MILE.
The annual Kinsale Regatta 5 Mile was held last Friday evening and a big field of 823 participated on what was an ideal evenings for the race.Ryan Mc Carthy Leevale AC in 24.06 toom overall victory this year and his team mate in Leevale Anika Thomson took the Ladies victory in a time of 26.44. The club had one athlete who made the trip and that was Jack Nolan who clocked a great time of 34.18, well done to Jack.
MIKEY COLEMAN 4TH IN NAAS 5K.
303 athletes competed last Saturday August 1st in the Naas 5k which is part of the Trasna race series in Co. Kildare.Aaron Getty St Brigid’s AC was the overall winner in a time of 15.27 and the Ladies event was won by Lauren Tinkler DCH AC 17.20 West Waterford AC had one athlete running here when Mikey Coleman ran a big PB time over the distance of 16.33 to take 4th overall. Well done Mikey.
