Inclement Weather Didn’t Dampen Spirits at Tramore Open Cross Country

Nine of our younger athletes braved the wet and windy conditions to take part in the first cross country of the year. The bad weather kept the numbers competing low but clubs banded together to make up teams for the relays.

West Waterford had a girls under 9 team of Olivia Hurney, Saoirse Keoghan, Mollaí and Íde Ní Lionán and they all ran with great gusto in the tough conditions. Our under 9 boys Liam and Sean Enright teamed up with St Mary’s and Ferrybank for a mixed team with Sean making up great ground on the second leg. Sadie Burke, Maggie Byrne and Anna Power all moved up an age to compete under 11 with Sadie running the first and anchor leg. They finished well up among the eight teams competing.
Well done to all our athletes, parents and club officials for making the effort to turn up on such a wet and windy day.
