Great Running at InterSport Elverys Tony’s League on Wednesday Last
Our young athletes really got into the spirit of Tony’s League and there was some great performances last Wednesdays at our Winter Cross Country League (Tony’s League) sponsored by InterSport Elverys. Wednesday was the first day of the team competition and ninety athletes completed the course with sixty seven athletes running faster than the previous two weeks. 35 of our younger athletes who run the 1000m loop improved their times while 32 ran faster over the 2000m. Ryan Gaffney, Kate Drea, Ayla Hogan and Ide Ní Lonain ran under 4mins for the first time and Kate Barry and Bella Daly ran under 5mins.
There were also big improvements from Liam Enright, Peter Dempsey and Finn Brennan who has improved by over amin in the three weeks so far. There are a big number of our younger athletes who are very close to breaking the 4mins.
Che O hArtaigh was fastest in in 3.39 just one second ahead Sibeal Curran.
Aadi Paniker was fastest on the long lap in 7m30 just two seconds ahead of Aaron Connor. Seamus Brennan has improved by over two minutes and went under 8mins for the first time. Another eight athletes broke 8mins for the first time this week including Daniel Curran, Maddie Connors, Kevin Russell, Natalie Barry, David Dempsey, Conor de Burca, Etain Ní Mhurchadha and Saoirse Kinsella.
Darcy Lavan, Leah Kiely, Dylan Higgins and Shay Connell all broke nine mins and there was much improved performance from Billy O’Riordan, Jackson Saunderson and Victor Durkowski.
Natalie Barry’s team had all ten of their team running on Wednesday and lead the team competition on 144pts. All the other teams had at least one member missing and this was reflected in the scoring. Jamie Kiely’s are second on 153 points with Tiarnan Hogan team 3rd with 178 points.
There will be no League on Wed because of Mid term but there will be training. No training on Bank Holiday Monday.
Munster Cross Country Championships under 9,11,13,15,17 and 19 in Two Mile Borris
WWAC will have a large contingent of athletes competing at the Munster Championships in Two Mile Borris Co Tipperary On Sunday November 2nd.

We will meet for warmup and to walk the course at 10am. Be aware that there were long tailbacks entering the parking area two weeks ago so give yourself plenty of time to park.
