InterSportElverys Winter League Back Again this Week.
Despite the damp and murky conditions eighty five athletes turned out to compete in Tony’s League on Wednesday last. The going was much heavier than over the last few weeks so we had fewer athletes improving their times. On the 2000m lap seven athletes posted their best time yet Conor de Burca 7.45 and Mia Murray, Leah Kiely, Jamie Kiely and Alex Dempsey all went under 8mins for the first time. Eoghan Kenny knocked a second off his best time and Tomas Higgins went under 9.30. Aadi Paniker posted the fastest time of the day7.32 just ahead of Aaron Connors and Maddie Connors was fastest of the girls in 7.43.
On the shorter 1000m lap eleven athletes ran their fastest time to date:Tiarnach Costin, Jude Lavan, Ide Ni Lonain, Sadie Burke, Rachel Curran, Joe Connors, Maggie Byrne, Mollai Ni Lonain, Maddie Grant, Saoirse Keohan and Micheal O’Mahony.
Che O’hArtaigh was fastest on the day with Sibeal Curran the fastest of the girls.
In the team competition Natalie had a full team in action and extended their lead with 266pts. Colm O’Muiri’s team have moved into second with 312pts. Jamie Kiely’s team are in third place on 340pts just one point ahead of Maddie Connors team. Very little separates the next two teams captained by David Dempsey and Tiarnach Hogan as they are all under 400 points. Its still all to run for over the next two weeks.
Munster B Championships in Riverstick on Sunday 16th of November
The Munster B Championships under 9,11,13,15,17 and 19 will take place in Riverstick Cork on Sunday 16th of October. Anyone who won a medal in the A championships cannot take part in this event. Our under 11 and 13 boys and our under 15 and 19 girls were not far from the medals in the A championships so these races would be a good competition for them to compete in. Munster Relays in Tramore on Sunday 30th November
The Munster relays under 10,12,14,16 will take place in Tramore and we hope to have teams competing in all age groups. Please let Antoinette or Ravis know if you are interested in competing in this event.
