Track and Field Season Starts with St Senan’s Open Sports on Easter Monday

A small group of West Waterford athletes travelled to Kilmacow on Easter Monday to take part in the first track and field meet of the season. The meeting attracted large number of athletes mainly from clubs in Leinster. Competition was keen in all events and the big numbers made qualify for the final and achievement in itself.
Ide Ni Linóin, Molly Fenton, Cormac Breathnach and Alex Whelan all made it through to the finals with Alex finishing 3rd in the under 12 80m. In the middle distance events Molly Fenton ran strongly to take silver in the under 10 300m and Cormac Breathnach under 10 and Eoghan Breathnach under 11 both finished 4th in their 300m races.
There were 13 teams in the girls under 10 relay and WWAC won their heat to qualify for the final where the team of Ide, Molly, Taylor and Maddie finished 3rd.
Well done to all our athletes who travelled to compete in St Senan’s

Training on Clonmel Track over Easter Holidays

In preparation for the upcoming track and field season a big group of our athletes travelled to Clonmel twice over the Easter holiday to train on the track in Clonmel. This was a great learning experience for the over 50 athletes who took part over the two days.
There was great activity with sprinting, hurdling, middle distance running, jumping and throwing. Hopefully with the new track in the pipeline for Dungarvan we won’t have to travel to Clonmel for training on a track in future years.
