Paul Mullarkey competes in All Ireland Championships
There were two more days of All Ireland Competition in Tullamore last weekend and West Waterford AC had just one athlete competing Paul Mullarkey. To reach an All Ireland Competition you have to finish in the top three in Munster and it’s the same in all the other regions so standards are always high and there is strong competition for medals. Paul Mullarkey was competing in the under 18 Shot. The event was won by Callum Keating North Cork with a huge throw of 15m66. Paul made it through to the final eight and he finished in 7th place with a throw of 10m84. Competition for the bronze medal was very close with only 50cms separating 3rd to 7th places. Well done to Paul on making it through to compete in his first All Ireland.
Next weekend will be the final weekend of track competition for the juveniles and Isabelle Gaffney will compete for West Waterford in the girls under 12 600m. Best of luck Isabelle.
