Club Training Starts Back on Wed Feb 26th @4.30 in St Augustine’s College
Club training will start back next Wednesday as we start preparations for the track and field season. Training this season will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings. We are making this change as numbers on Friday evenings were very low and we hope changing to Monday will encourage more to attend. Looking forward to seeing everyone back and ready for action on Wednesday.
Big Turn Out for First Spraoi Games
Waterford County Board held its first Spraoi Games in the SETU arena on Thursday last. There was a big turn out as over 130 children aged 8-11 from seven different clubs took part in this fun event. Under 9’s, 10’s and 11’s took part in a timed sprint, a standing long jump and a bean bag throw. All the results were recorded and each child received a certificate of their performance at the end. West Waterford had 14 athletes in action Leanne Flynn, Roisin Keenan, Peter Dempsey and Tadhg Keenan took part in their first club event competing in the under 9 competition. Sadie Burke, Ciara Crowe, Ciara Kenny, Sarah Jane Flynn, Che O’hArtaigh and Seadhna O’Tuathaigh competed in the under 10 events. Etain Ni Mhurchadha, Fianna Veale, Conall O’Ruairc and Andy Zakis completed the under 11 competition. There were some every good individual performance and an inter club relay ensured the event ended on a high note with everyone cheering on their teams. Good fun was had by all and the hot chocolate and presentation of certificates at the end ensured all our athletes went home in good spirits. Well done to the county board for organising this event and we look forward to the next event
