Bronze for Sophie Beresford @123.ie National Juvenile Championships.
The National juvenile championships took place in Athlone on the last weekend in March. It was another successful outing for Sophie Beresford as she finished 3rd in the girls under 16 Walk adding to her growing reputation as one of the most promising walkers in the country. The distances indoors are much shorter and Sophie would prefer the longer distances on the outdoor track. There were also good performances from Isabelle Gaffney and Ruby Stockwell who both posted personal bests at the same event. Isabelle competed in the 800m and won heat 2 in a time of 2.15.32. Unfortunately the first heat was faster with Faye Renton setting a new championship record and she dragged those behind her to fast times and all three medal winners came from the first heat. Ruby Stockwell posted a personal best of 9.81 in the 60m hurdles but such was the standard in the event that this time did not qualify her for the final.
Waterford Schools Championships on Tues April 8th
The first event of the track will be the Waterford Schools Championships on Tues April 8th starting @11am. Our athletes will compete with all the local schools in running, jumping and throwing events. Best of luck to all competing.
Ferrybank Open Sports on Sunday April 13th
Another event for our athletes to look out for is the Ferrybank Open Sports on Sunday 13th with events from under 8 upwards.
Ferrybank Athletic Club presents ……McDonald’s Open Track & Field Sports Waterford at Waterford RSC Sunday April 13th 2025 Start time: 11am
Entrance Fee: €7 athletes, €5 adult spectators, Relay team entry fee €8 per team
Each athlete under 8 , 9 & 10 will receive a McDonald’s Happy Meal Voucher,
under 11s will receive a voucher for a half price Big Mac/McChicken Sandwich/Nugget meal
Vouchers valid for McDonald’s Waterford City Centre or McDonald’s Cork Road, Waterford.
Vouchers will be distributed when athletes finish their sprint event

U11 & U12 60m hurdles (hurdles 60cm, 4 hurdles in race, approach 15m, interval 10m, finish 15m)
Event order: Approx. times 11am – track 1 sprints, track 2 hurdles, 12.30pm distance races
Training on Track over Easter Holidays
We have booked the track in Clonmel for training on Tues 15th and 22nd of April from 11.00 to 12.30. If there is enough interest we will run a bus both days. Check out the poll on the WhatsApp.
