Inter Sport elverys Juvenile Winter League
Last Wednesday was the third night of the team competition in the Elvery’s Intersport Juvenile Winter League (Tony’s League).
It was a cold, wet and windy evening and conditions were very soft underfoot, nevertheless 83 athletes took part. The conditions made it very difficult to improve one’s time, however a few athletes managed to do so. Pete Finnegan, Kaelan Barry, Rian Curran, Leah Wall, Amy Beresford, and Amparo all ran their fastest times in the league so far this year. This is the second week in a row that Rian Curran has improved his time. There are just two girls in the top ten this year Lucy Holmes and Sarah Nyhan while Mark Blackwell has moved into the top six. Charlie Curran continues to lead the short lap. There is just one week left to improve your times so we will hope for a dry hardy day next Wednesday.
With just one more night to go in the team competition, Lucy Holmes’ team remains in the lead on 681 points. There has been a change in second place and it is now held by Ian Holmes’ team which is on 746 points and there is a joint third place on 772 points between Sarah Nyhan’s team and David Gaffneys team. It is still all to play for next week !
