Great Run from Kate Veale
News just in from Scotland is that Kate Veale had a great run in the Schools International Cross Country International held in Perth. Like good wine Kate keeps getting better and better with each race and the longer the distance and the tougher the course the better it suits Kate.  In the Kit Kat Munster schools held in Tramore Racecourse Kate finished in third place.  She went on from this to compete at the Kit Kat All Ireland schools held on a muddy and windswept course in Loughrae.  Here Kate was the first Munster athlete home when she finished in 5th place.  This run earned her selection on the Irish team for the International event. On Friday last she led the Irish team home when she finished in 11th place.  The English team who had eight athletes in the first 10 as usual dominated the race. Emelia Goreky came home 12 secs of her compatriot Ruth Hayes to take the individual title. Only Alice Hainey Scotland in 8th place prevented a complete whitewash. With a time of 11.24 Kate will be well pleased with a run that saw her finish 25 secs ahead of the Irish champion Katie Kirk. Well-done Kate.
