All Systems Go for Western Primary Schools Finals
Wednesday is the day and the Friary is the venue for the Western Primary Schools Athletics Championships where we will see the best young talent in the western part of the county competing for the honour of their schools. Over the past two weeks we have had qualifying events for big schools and small schools and on Wednesday we will have the finals. In all there will be 64 races run starting at 6.30 sharp with the girls under 8 sprint final. Line up will start at 6.15 so we advise parents and teachers to come early, as parking inside will be limited. All the sprint finals will be run first followed by relay races and then the finals of the long distance events. The complete programme should be finished within two hours. West Waterford juvenile committee would like to thank the many adults and young athletes who have turned up in the past two weeks to help run the event and we look forward to your support again on Thursday and for the county final. As well as medals for the first three they will also score points for their schools and trophies will be awarded to the best boys and girls school in each category. The first three athletes in each of the sprint races and long distance events and the first two relay teams in each race will qualify for the county finals that will be held in the friary on Wed 26th of May.
