The late Nora Healy.

The club and its members having just sadly attended the funerals and burials of two athletic stalwarts in Noel O’ Doherty and Fr Noel Columba O’Donnell OSA when we are rocked again with a third passing of an Athletics mentor and administrator. As we left the Friary church today Friday December 30th we hear of the sad passing of Nora Healy Old Parish.

After many years involved with the Ring Old Paris club at Juvenile level Nora joined the committee of West Waterford Athletic Club in January 1996 as assistant secretary she later served as club secretary and also as a member of the committee of the Juvenile section of the club.

Under her tender she helped the club grow for strength to strength throughout the 90’s and in more recent years through the juvenile club as the chief organiser of the Primary schools sports a mammoth task which she coordinated to perfection for some years.

Nora was instrumental also in bringing one of the best ever held national half marathon championships of Ireland events when the club hosted the championship in August 2003,the race on that occasion had one of the largest fields ever assembled for a half marathon championship.

At Munster and National level Nora also gave of her time at many cross country and track and field championships as an administrator.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Michael and children all her grandchildren and extended family.

Nora's passing is also a great loss to West Waterford Athletic Club and the extended athletics family. May she rest in peace.
