Fionn O’Mhurchú ended a very successful first year in athletics winning two  medals in the All Ireland B Championships in the high jump and long jump. Fionn’s first outing with West Waterford AC was to the county championships last May where he won four medals finishing 2nd in the under 15 high jump and hurdles and third in the high jump and 800m. In June he went on to compete at the Munster B championship in Ennis where he won the high jump and finished 4th in the long jump. On Sunday last he went one better in the long jump taking the silver medal with a jump of 3m98 and also added a bronze in the high jump with a jump of 1m35. With a winters training behind him he can look forward to even more success next year.
We had just one other competitor in action in Tullamore and Angelina Chizhikova finished 8th from a large field in the girls under 15 800m.
