Fiona O’Riordan a long standing club member, who is part of our training group, will be running the Waterford Viking Quarter Marathon to raise money for this invaluable charity. Fiona’s family benefitted from the services of Brú Columbanus and would now like to help the charity help others in the future. The family have a long association with the club as Fiona’s husband David made many trophies for club prizes over the years. The Slateways perpetual trophy that we present to the ladies winner of the summer series was donated by David before his untimely death in 2016.Brú Columbanus is an independent charity that provides a “home from home” and FREE accommodation for relatives of seriously ill patients in any of the Cork Hospitals and the Hospice. The €5.5 million project, which was established by the Knights of St. Columbanus and opened in September 2005 provides 26 en-suite family rooms with a supporting kitchen and lounges where families can meet other families who are in similar situations and can lend support and understanding to each other and draw on their shared experiences.
